ABOUT US!!

I love creating cakes so delightful that the owners find them hard to cut up! I studied accounting and usually joke that I am a chartered accountant by profession but a confectioner by calling! I strongly believe that I have been blessed with a divine creativity to bake and decorate cakes so unique that they are a sight to behold.
Baking started for me as a hobby way back in secondary school but it eventually became a career in 1996 when I decided to pack up my accounting files and roll out my spatulas!
It has been a wonderful and challenging journey with pleasant occurrences along the way.
In 1999 I won 1st prize for the "Best in Show Award in Sugarcraft" at the BCHC fair with my "SEKERE" cake.
In 2002 and 2003 I had the privilege of demonstrating stringwork techniques as a cake demonstrator at the annual convention of the International Cake Exploration Societié (ICES) in the United States of America.
I have also had the opportunity of demonstrating at local cake exhibitions within Nigeria.
Another passion I have is teaching others the art of sugarcraft and to date hundreds of women (and men!) have undergone our training courses on baking and cake decoration.

We regard Cake ‘n’ Candy Confectionery as one big family and work goes on in a relaxed and happy atmosphere.
We are well known for our delicious cakes but what makes this confectionery stand out amongst others is its creativity. Our sole aim is to fulfill your dreams, no matter how far fetched they may seem. We create hilarious out of this world cakes that bring smiles to children's faces or breath taking and exquisite designs for weddings and engagements.
We could drape your cakes in the sweetest "Aso Oke" ever - and we mean that literarily too!
On the corporate front, our custom made logo cakes would be the cream on the cake for any official function!
But wait for the best part - our cakes are affordable. We are able to work within your budget no matter how tight it may be!
Currently we operate from 7, Aderoju Adewuyi Street, Awushe Estate, Opebi and have an outlet at 13, Opebi road, where cakes can be bought off the shelf.

RECIPE 2 . . .

LEMON MADEIRA CAKE RECIPE

This classic cake keeps well for up to a week in an airtight tin, and provides a good base for novelty cakes as it cuts firmly. Originally it was decorated with a strip of citron peel on top, but this very difficult to obtain these days.


Ingredients:

  • 175g / 6oz Butter, at room temperature
  • 175g / 6oz Caster Sugar
  • 3 Eggs, size 3, beaten
  • 175g / 6oz Self-raising Flour
  • 75g / 3oz Plain Flour
  • Finely Grated Zest of 1 Lemon
  • 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • 1 Thin Slice Citron Peel ( Optional )

procedure:

  1. Grease and line a 20cm/8inch round deep cake tin. Set the oven to 170°C/325°F/Gas 3.
  2. Beat the butter and sugar together until light, fluffy and pale in colour. Gradually add the eggs, beating well after each addition. Add a teaspoon of flour if the mixture begins to curdle.
  3. Sift the flours together, then fold into the mixture with the lemon zest and juice.
  4. Spoon into the tin and level the top. If using the citron peel, place in the centre Bake in the centre of the oven for about 1 hour and 10 minutes or until firm to the touch. Leave to cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then turn out on to a wire rack to cool completely. Peel away the lining paper when cool

GINGERBREAD RECIPE [-]

GINGER BREAD RECIPE

The gingerbread is made by melting method, and is an easy cake for children to bake


Ingredients:

  • 350g/12oz Self-raising
  • Flour
  • pinch salt
  • 2Tsp Ground Ginger
  • 2Tsp Ground Ginger
  • 175g/6oz Butter or Block Margarine
  • 2 Rounded Tbsp Golden Syrup
  • 2 Rounded Tbsp Dark Treacle
  • 175g/6oz Dark Muscovado
  • Sugar
  • 2 Eggs, size 3
  • 150ml/1/4 Pint Milk
  • Cinnamon Glace icing
  • (Optional)
    • 225g/8 oz Icing sugar
    • 1/4 Tsp Ground Cinnamon
    • Freshly Squeezed orange juice, to mix

procedure:

  1. Set the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4. Grease and line a 20cm/8inch square cake tin.
  2. Sift the flour, salt and spices into a bowl. Place the fat, syrup, treacle and sugar in a suace pan or in the microwave oven, and heat until the fat melts. Stir together, then cool slightly.
  3. Pour the melted mixture into flour, then beat in the eggs and milk. Pour into the prepared tin, Bake for about 11/4 or until firm in the centre. Leave to cool in the tin, then turn out and store 1-2 days before eating. The longer the cake is kept, the sticker it becomes.

Stencils for Sale

We sell stencils for cartoon characters, embroidery designs, seasonal designs for Easter, Christmas, Valentine’s day etc. You can also order custom made stencils for your logos, etc. We also specialise in message stencils for those who are not too confident about writing ‘freehand’ on cakes or just wish to add a more professional touch to their decorated cakes.
*Orders for stencils not currently in stock may take a minimum of two weeks to arrive.

Sugar models for sale

You can place orders for your bride & groom sugar models in traditional/ foreign attire to your preferred specifications. We also mould children’s characters, inanimate objects such as fruits, etc. Just give us your details and we’ll make cake decorating stress free for you!
*Models must be ordered at least 8 working days in advance.

sugar flower for sale

We also make sugar flowers in colours requested for by you. You may order them singly or in bouquets.
*Depending on the quantity of flowers, orders may take between 1 to 3 weeks

fondant & flower paste

Do you have a large order and do not have the time to make your own fondant or flower paste? We can provide both within 24 to 48 hours depending on the weight required.

           Un-iced Cakes

We also supply cakes to supermarkets and eatries. You can order for resale, your company functions, children parties, picnics etc. at very affordable price.
